Following is a short story that I wrote in my pastime. This story includes fictional as well as some of real life Scenario. Not all scenarios are based on my life, some of are and others are what I have seen around me. The story goes following…

Engineer’s “Love Story”

Crush a person with whom someone is infatuated(be inspired with an intense but short-lived passion or admiration for).”  -Google.

This is the story of Arjun (a final year engineering student). His story falls back  around 3 years ago when he enrolled himself in college. Transition from school to college was difficult one. As Arjun was coming from a remote village, he didn’t had much knowledge about life in collage. Initially he felt lost because, there were so many things that he hadn’t seen in his life till date. As he was good at studies, getting new friends wasn’t the difficult task.

The story moves to the Fresher’s Party where he saw girls in their most beautiful avatar (Dresses of one kind, these dresses are wore only once in a year and then disappears for next 365 days). He had not seen so many beautiful girls around him. Initially he didn’t gave much consideration on making a girl friend. But seeing his friends were getting committed with their respective partners he changed his mind. But the problem was whom to choose and the major problem was how to ask any girl.

In the this process whole first year was ended. Finally he choose one but later he found out that she already had a boyfriend so he moved to second girl but after few months he got to know that one of his friend likes her. So he decided to move from her and find another one. He spend whole year finding perfect match for him. But every time he found himself unlucky. In all of the cases he was put into either ‘friendzone’ or even worse ‘BhaiZone’.

At the beginning of third year he had realized that being smart doesn’t guarantees a girl friend. So he asked one his close friend to help him out. He ask him to suggest girl that might be perfect for him. Arjun’s friend gave him some suggestions. Arjun promised his friend that he will try to work on suggestions. Searching process went for next couple of months, finally Arjun found out a girl from his class “Aditi”. She was that girl Arjun was looking for last two and half year. But the problem was that he had never talked to her so, how to approach her in first place.

Though having her phone number he never tried to message her. He always thought that receiving message from random guy will not pleased her. Arjun was so obsessed with her that his eyeballs were always stuck on her in lectures. Many a times he also found out that she had been doing same thing, this fact always motivated him that someday she will gonna be his. In whole third year they talked to each other only once on her birthday. Arjun wished her. This is how third year passed by.

It was do or die situation for Arjun because final year had began. Either he had to ask her or regret for rest of his life for not asking. It was again a party, this time “The Farewell” party. There is always a section called couple dance (Ballroom Dance) where couples are formed and they dance together. Before leaving for party Arjun decided that he would gonna ask Aditi for a dance. When couple dance began he started looking for her but she was standing in a corner surrounded by her friends. Arjun was standing in opposite corner so it was like you want to go to other side of river and it is filled with deadly crocodiles, sounds impossible task and it was for Arjun. Couple dance was over and he couldn’t ask her. This made him a bit regretful. From somewhere Arjun heard that, Aditi was used to go for morning walk to a garden nearby. So Arjun also tried to go for morning walk to see glimpses of Aditi early morning. But he never manage to see her, after a week of frustration he quit morning walk. Even in collage when they used see each other they use to keep silent, non of then was willing to omit first word. The story was stuck to the same place where it was on year ago.

In the final month of engineering, a close friend of Arjun saw Aditi with a boy in a garden. Aditi had some friends in boys but this time it looked different “She too had a boyfriend?!”. Answer could only be given by Aditi herself but Arjun didn’t wanted to ask her about that. Arjun wanted Aditi to be happy so he didn’t interfere in her life. For Arjun’s crush story was never converted to a love story.

The question here is that was that boy in garden was her boyfriend was just another guy? Did Arjun’s hesitation put him in to this situation? What was in Aditi’s mind?

I won’t discuss the questions. Here’re some rules I read on Reddit:

    1. If you do not GO after what you want, you’ll never have it.
    2. If you do not ASK, the answer will be always NO.
    3. If you do not step FORWARD, you will ALWAYS be in the same place.
