Hello again everyone. This is the second article in series called “ Kutch Travel ”. If you have missed first one, please click here. This time I shall be covering mountains or hills. There will be five places mention below:
- Hill Garden
- Bhujiyo Dungar (Mountain)
- Tri Mandir (Temple)
- Hira Laxmi Park
Most the mention places are either on hills or near to. So let us begin!!
As the name suggest it is garden on the hill. It is in Bhuj city. You can reach by your own vehicle or any auto-rixa will do for you. It happens to be in front of my collage where I completed my diploma engineering.
It is quite big in terms of size. You would find lots of rides and sitting area to spend your time. Rides were shut down indefinitely the time I visited. You’ll find lot of couples murmuring around you ;). Best time to visit would be around evening, just hour before sunset.
There is also a skeleton of whale inside garden. But at the time of my visit the area was locked so I wasn’t able to capture. Hope the best for you, whale skeleton as well as rides.
Note: Ticket fair: Rs. 5 per head.
It is again in Bhuj city but at some distance from main city. There is temple, don’t know of which god or goddess. The best thing is that the temple is surrounded by mountains. You can surely climb any one of them.
Best time would be on weekends or holidays and especially in evening time. Do climb mountain at least to get a view of whole area. Sunsets are usually good. Be careful while climbing. Mountain edges are pretty sharp.
It is around 5-7 km from center of Bhuj. Also there is no government transportation facility. So I suggest that either have own vehicle or book a cab or auto-rixa.
Bhujiyo Dungar (Mountain)
On the eastern side of the Bhuj is a hill known as Bhujiyo Dungar, on which there is Bhujia Fort, which separates Bhuj city and Madhapar town.
Recently construction started on Bhujiyo to build a “Smriti Smarag” (Memorial) for the victims of 2001 earthquake. It would take around 5-6 years more to get memorial ready for visitors.
The elevation of this hill is around 160 meter. You can view whole Bhuj city from the hill. You would find number of temples while climbing. Do take water bottles with you.
You can reach by private vehicle or booking a vehicle. Best time would be in evening or morning.
Tri Mandir (Temple)
It is not quite on any hill or mountain. Instead it is on the walking distance to hill garden. If you are visiting hill garden then you can also visit this one too. If you want to visit do it in evening.
Hira Laxmi Craft Park
If you really want to spend time visiting garden then this is the place for you. A vision to preserve, restore and promote the arts of Kutch and making them accessible to masses.
You would find different craft stores from which you can buy items such as Tie and Dye (Bandhani), Leather items, Wood carved items, Pottery items, mud work items and so on.
Recently they started constructing miniature model of parliament house of India. One more construction was going on but I couldn’t figure that out but it looked like Red fort of Delhi. As both miniature models was under construction no visitors were allowed to go inside but with some reference I was able to visit inside of parliament house’s model. It looked pretty good inside.
As it is in Bhujodi village you can reach by own vehicle or get rixa or book a vehicle. There is no charge for visiting only thing that you have to do an entry in register. Best time would be evening.
