It’s has been a long time since I haven’t written any blog about traveling. So it is the time NOW! I am going to make a series of travel articles focusing on Kutch tourism named as Kutch Travel.
In first of the series I shall be covering place which is in almost center of Bhuj city. They are called Hamisar – a lake situated in the center of Bhuj, Chhatedi and Kutch Museum.
This article will be limited to following topics:
- Hamisar Lake.
- Kutch Museum.
So let’s begin!!
Hamisar Lake “The heart of Bhuj”
It is the largest lake in Bhuj city, divided into two part. You should travel after the monsoon season so that you could find lake filled with water. There are two most famous garden that can be visited.
Just like a normal park that you would find in any city. But it differentiates in-terms of views around. It has a walkway, one of the best place go for morning or evening walk. You would find rides. A garden in you can sit and relax.
Personally I like this more than previous one. The main reason is because it is in the center of the lake. If lake is filled with water, the view is mesmerizing. From walkway to garden itself, is beautifully crafted.
Both the garden can be visited either in morning or evening.
Chhatedi “The funeral place for maharaos of kutch(former kings of kutch)”
In ancient time whenever any king of Kutch dies, the funeral is done at this place. So you can call it as “Shmashāna Ghat” remains me of Farrow of Egypt. Few years back it was in possession of kings of Kutch but now government of Gujarat handles its renovation and all other thing.
You can reach to by just walking from Hamisar Lake. There is no charge. It consist of two chhatedies, one is called the old and other is newly built. Older ones are bit dangerous, so you must be careful while entering them.
No timings but you must ensure that reach before sunset or after sunrise. If you are traveling as couple then you’ll find lot of people with similar disorder ;). Don’t disturb them.
You wouldn’t want to miss visiting this amazing museum with the largest existing collection of Kshatrapa inscriptions (Western Satraps). The fee of visit is modest only Rs. 5 and if you want to do photography inside then you have to pay a little more depending on still or video. Following is the notice you should look at.
There are couple of floors. Ground floor consisting mainly historical stones of Indus civilization. You would also find different tribes of Kutch with their statues. First floor consists of cloth materials and ancient Kutch coin collection.
