“Memories of childhood were the dreams that stayed with you after you woke.”
It’s funny isn’t it? We spend our childhood wishing that we’d grow up as soon as possible and then spend the rest of our lives wishing that we could go back. A person’s childhood is the sweetest, most innocent time of his/her life, as well as the source of their fondest memories. Memories that no one ever forgets. Here I am sharing some childhood memories.
Before Playstation or Xbox took over
Outdoor games we used to play
Before we learn to play cricket or football, there was Gilli-Danda.
Oonch Neech (or Oonch Neech ka Papada) translates Up and Down in English.
Motive was to collect as much kancha as possible by shooting and striking one kancha with others.
One of the best pass time in early morning or evening.
Don’t remember much about it but it was called पाँच पत्थर(Pām̐ca pat’thara)/Panchika/Chhabba
Raja, Mantri, Chor, Sipahi Game
We spent hundreds of happy summer evenings playing chupan-chupai(hide and seek), pithoo(Seven Stones), and hop-scotch.
Sweets that made our childhood awesome
It was a time when we didn’t worry about calories or fat content. If we saw chocolates, we ate chocolates Period.
Before we started eating ice creams of Amul or Vadilal. We waited for this in hot afternoon.
Parle kismi bar. 4 of 1 Rupee.
The original Pepsi for us then.
Diwali was always fun time for us. We get chance to burst firecrackers. Crackers such as Laxmi bomb, Anaar, Rocket and so on.
Never ending worm.
Toy pistol vintage shot roll caps.
Television back then
Still the very old child by heart
Loved cartoons then, loves cartoons now and keep loving then forever.
Dedako (Frog) – The tic-toc toy that used to make annoying sound but we still loved it.
Before we learn how to bicycle
The Golden “Compass”(geometry box)
How toothpaste(Colgate) use to be then
We didn’t need bank accounts and credit cards. All we needed was a piggy bank or Gullak and we felt like millionaires!
Going to sleep on the couch in a boring family function and waking up in your own bed. Unforgettable.
Collections of stuffed toys, Pokemon Tazos & WWE Trump cards were like treasures to us.
The proud moment when your Dad told his friends, “Ye bade hoke apne Papa jaisa banega!”
It is hard to wrap up all the memories in single article. I have tried my best to cover as many memories as possible. But, as I am a human being and errors are “part and parcel of the game of life“. I might have missed many other memories. If you can recollect then, you can surly put inside comment section.
